We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to help deal with your dental emergency. You don’t have to be registered with our practice to benefit from our emergency dentist service.
If you are in pain or you have an injured tooth, it’s an emergency. We recommend seeking help as soon as possible, as dental problems won’t just go away on their own. If you're unsure about the severity of the situation, please seek help promptly to prevent further complications.
Here are just some of the examples of why patients visit us:
Toothache can be caused by a wide range of issues, including tooth decay, gum disease, dental infections and broken teeth. We’ll diagnose the cause of your problem and then address the pain before arranging follow-up treatment to help tackle the root cause of your toothache.
A broken or chipped tooth can be very painful, particularly if you have exposed the pulp of the tooth. Don’t ignore this common issue and see our dental team as quickly as possible to help put things right. If you can save the broken tooth fragment, we may be able to reattach it.
A knocked-out tooth is a severe dental emergency that requires immediate attention. Handle the tooth carefully, try to reinsert it into the socket if possible, and see a dentist right away. You can also store the tooth in milk to keep it safe while you wait for an appointment.
Lost fillings expose the most sensitive parts of the tooth, which can lead to pain, discomfort, and an increased risk of infection. If you’ve lost a filling, book an appointment with our emergency dental team in Manchester or Leeds so we can help to put things right.
Swelling of the gums, cheek or jaw indicates there is an infection such as an abscess. This is often accompanied by severe pain that comes on suddenly. This is a serious dental emergency that needs to be addressed as quickly as possible to help prevent the infection from spreading.
Painful gums are a sign of gum disease or infection, among other issues. You might also have an abscess on your tooth. Regular dental check-ups can help prevent or address gum-related problems. See a dentist as soon as possible if you’re experiencing pain that stops you from sleeping or cannot be controlled with painkillers like paracetamol.
Dental infections, whether in the tooth or gums, can cause significant pain and swelling. With a dental infection, the pain often comes on suddenly, and may subside if you are able to ignore it for long enough. However, we don’t recommend ignoring the pain as this is a sign that the infection is only going to get worse and the pain will return eventually.
Increased hormones during pregnancy puts you at higher risk of dental issues. We know that it can be scary to visit the dentist during your pregnancy, so we will do everything we can to help put you at ease. We can also support you by recommending ways to care for your teeth and gums during pregnancy.
Broken dentures are considered a dental emergency, as this could impact your ability to eat and speak. Don’t suffer in silence with a broken denture – seeking a prompt repair or replacement from an emergency dentist will help you to get back to normal. We can also assist with lost dentures.
Crowns are commonly used to protect vulnerable teeth, so if they come loose or fall out, your tooth could be at risk. Try to save the crown if possible and we can reattach it. Otherwise, we will protect the tooth in the meantime while we wait for a replacement crown to be fitted.
Trauma from sports activities can lead to various dental emergencies, including broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, or injuries to the soft tissues of the mouth or the jaw. If you’ve suffered an injury during a sports game, visit our emergency dentist as soon as possible. There may be damage below the gumline that you cannot see.
We treat all patients, including those registered with other dentists. If your usual dentist cannot see you out-of-hours, or if they don’t have the capacity, we can start the emergency dental treatment and then you can return to your usual dentist for follow-up care.
If you currently don’t have a routine dental practice and would like to register with us, we would also be happy to welcome you into our practice.
